It has been addressed and answered a million times, yet the doubt remains the same in every graduate’s mind, stepping up in a college.
Q - Which domain should I opt for in Engineering that has more scope?
Q – Is there any growth opportunity in the MBA -HR domain or should I go for the MBA in the Marketing domain, and so on…
Well, a brief answer to the above-stated questions and to the curious, wanna-be rich and success seeking minds is in its simplest yet most realistic form:
There is no good, better, best as such in terms of opting for specialization.
Whatever specialization you go for, it totally depends upon your performance at the end of the day.
Let's understand the concept through a comparative analysis in the field of Management:
College X during the placement drive offered 15 LPA of pay to Harry from the finance domain, which was the highest for that batch. On the other hand, Lisa, from Operations, received a package of 8 LPA.
Way too low comparatively???
In a couple of years down the line, Lisa’s performance happened to increase at an increasing rate and she matched the top performers in terms of KPIs and managers' feedback. On the contrary, Harry, who started at a fairly good level, struggled with the assigned deliverables and couldn’t meet up the expectations compared to his colleagues.
Due to the consistent performance, Lisa got higher appraisals and a promotion opportunity that not only led to her pay raise but a better position compared to Harry in his domain.
The above-stated situation is just to help the young and talented graduates, seeking a so-called “Excellent Opportunity” understand that:
A MILLION-DOLLAR LEARNING:
$$$ "IT DOES NOT DEPEND ON WHAT ROLE YOU OPT FOR, BUT ALL IT MATTERS IS WHAT VALUE YOU BRING IN" $$$
The corporates don’t really need a degree from a top-tier college per se, but that helps in benchmarking that the ones graduating from such top colleges will be a better pick as compared to other XYZ colleges…Not Necessarily True!
Now if this gets clear, the question arises:
What really needs to be done??
Well, besides being a performer in college, it is mandatory for young graduates to focus on skills development, engaging in practical learnings, looking for mentors who can guide them through and make them better decision-makers, both professionally as well as at a personal level.
Though there are multiple sources online to engage in for upskilling, to make learning the most effective one, practical learning is the best approach one can look for.
We encourage candidates towards the approach of practical learnings, getting them engaged in industry-level projects, customized by our own mentors from top industries.
Our initiative, Certified Employability Professionals (CEP) + Mentorship Program has helped the young graduates find their passion, and upskill themselves to achieve success in their professional as well as personal lives.
We at Suslence believe every individual is unique and has tremendous potential. They just need a dash of right guidance in their life.
We have some results that we would like to share:
Our mentees coming from a Tier-2/Tier 3 college have been employed in the firms like Wipro, Bain & Co. Jindal Steel, Capgemini, Evalueserve, ONGC, Deloitte, Mckinsey & Co., and more to count.
We do not guarantee jobs but we create employable products. And making the graduates job-ready would make them self-capable of getting employed and deployed.
We invite corporates, colleges/universities to join us in shaping the future of our young talents by investing in them today.
